Similar to narcolepsy, hypersomnolence is a condition in which a person sleeps for a prolonged period of time during the night and is so excessively sleepy during the day, that they cannot stay awake. It can be caused by other conditions such as narcolepsy or sleep apnea, or damage done to the brainstem.
