Meningitis
An inflammation of the membranes (meninges) surrounding your brain and spinal cord caused by viral, bacterial, fungal or chemical infections. Viral, bacterial and fungal infections can come from many sources; however, chemical meningitis most commonly occurs after exposure when the dura is opened/exposed. Meningitis can be life threatening due to the close proximity to the brain and spinal cord.
Common Symptoms: headache, fever, stiff neck, confusion/ difficulty concentrating, fatigue, sensitivity to light, lack of appetite or thirst and in some cases skin rash and/ or seizures.
