Hypopituitarism
Also known as “pituitary insufficiency.” Hypopituitarism is a condition wherein the pituitary gland (located at the base of the brain) fails to produce one or more of the many hormones it is responsible for producing, or does not produce enough of them. Hypopituitarism further affects the body when other important glads such as the thyroid and adrenal glands do not get the hormones they need from the pituitary gland. It may result from disorder of the pituitary gland itself, from disorders of the hypothalmus, or surrounding structures.
