A condition where people see perceived flashes of colors or light in the absence of light stimuli.  Some describes these flashes of lights as “shooting stars,” sparks, or small strands of light and color.  These can occur as a result of diseases of the optic nerve, retina, brain, or can be associated with migraine headaches.
