Mitochondrial Disorders
The mitochondria in cells help create approximately 90% of the energy needed to sustain life and support the body’s cells and organs. Mitochondrial disorders refer to a broad range of chronic, genetic disorders (often inherited) wherein the cellular mitochondria dysfunction and fail to produce enough energy to support cell or organ function, and sometimes even life itself.
